In NAV2009R2 (build 32012), try the following:

From the Start|Run dialog or a Command Prompt window, run the RTC with a page URL. My command line looks something like this:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Dynamics NAV\60\RoleTailored Client\Microsoft.Dynamics.Nav.Client.exe" dynamicsnav://localhost:7046/DynamicsNAV/MyCompanyName/RunPage?Page=21

After a while, this starts up the RTC, and shows the customer card page (#21). So far, so good.

However, when you run the exact same command line again (while the first RTC instance is still running), I get this:

Microsoft.Dynamics.Nav.Client has stopped working

Starting the first instance without a URL, and the second instance with a  page URL has the same effect. Couldn’t find a fix for this in the PartnerSource Knowledge Base. Anybody else with the same problem?

It turns out to have something to do with a side-by-side installation with NAV 2013 Beta. To be continued…

Are there any news on this? I experience the same issue.

If your problem is also related to a side-by-side installation of NAV2009R2 and NAV2013 Beta, uninstalling and reinstalling NAV2009R2 might remedy the situation. I’m not sure if a Repair of your existing R2 installation will have the same effect.

The issue has been reported to Microsoft, but I can image that this isn’t among the top priorities on their to-do-list. ;-)
