Any ideas?

Have a client that wants to get there mod's across to the new version which is complete, but they also want 10 years of data as well. Any ideas regarding how to post that much data across into the new 2009r2 version given they are still running a 2.5 db?

Any ideas would be appreciated...

The simplest way would be to upgrade. But without knowing a lot more about the client its impossible to say what is the best solution.

There is no one size fits all when moving from one version to another, so you need to provide a lot more information, otherwise the replies you are going to get are simply from people looking at a crystal ball.

First look at some core issues:

• What data do you actually need, and does it need to be in the live database, or just accessible. Or maybe a combination of both.
• What custom functionality do you have in your 2.5 system that is now out of the box in 2009.
• What level of training are you expecting for the users on the new system.
• How much down time can you allow for the change over.
• How big is the database.
• What is performance like.
• Do you have at least a core of power users that know the meaning of all your data.

The answers to these questions will be a good start. And if someone categorically tells you the best answer without asking at least some of those questions, then don't trust them.

By the way it's pretty amazing to see someone still on 2.5, that was probably the buggiest and most unstable version of Navision ever released.
