Unless they treat 5.0 SP1 as a different version ...

Technically 5.00 support stopped when they released SP1.

Either way though this is a very strange announcement. I think the blog must be wrong.

If not this is going to be a huge shake up in the Navision world, 50,000 or so customers need to upgrade in the next 3 months. I can't see that happening.

I think MS want to upgrade customers from 5.0 to 6.0 before they release NAV7

Here it is from the official MS site. Looks like April 2012.

  • Products Released Mainstream Support End Date
  • Dynamics NAV 5.0 4/10/2012
  • Dynamics NAV 5.0 Service Pack 1 Not Applicable

Doesn't Not Applicable mean that an end date is not yet announced?

It means that the dates are the same as original release. You see this on many of the service pack levels for different products.

Yes it looks like your interpretation was correct. This is not good news. Surely 5.00sp1 is the most installed version out there right now.

Looks like time to quit my job of Navision Performance Tuning, and go back to upgrades, the next three months could be Y2K all over again.

MS in the past has had a "policy" of supporting the current NAV release plus the one prior. On the "support lifecycle" site, "NAV 5.0" and "NAV 5.0 SP1" are listed together on the same page. Therefore I think they are/were considered a single release.

However, "NAV 2009" and "NAV 2009 R2" are listed separately. Are they considering these different releases? Therefore, even with ending support for 5.0, they are still adherign to their policy of current plus one prior?

http://support.microsoft.com/lifecycle/?p1=13864

http://support.microsoft.com/lifecycle/?p1=15944

You will note that both "NAV 2009" and "NAV 2009 R2" have the same support end dates.
