Nav TechDays is the name of a new conference, organized by mibuso.com. The goal of this conference is to offer 2 days full of – technical only and highly relevant – sessions, related to Microsoft Dynamics™ NAV. Nav TechDays will take place on Thursday 26 & Friday 27 May 2011, at Metropolis Business & Communication Center in Antwerp (Belgium).

UPDATE 19/07/2010: Due to the broad range of Dynamics NAV conferences within the EMEA region, we have decided to reschedule our NAV TechDays conference. Instead of May 2011, this 2-day conference will be rescheduled to October 2011. A final date has not been decided upon, but we expect it will take place in the 2nd half of October 2011.

UPDATE 3/02/2011: To avoid possible conflicts with the existing Convergence EMEA and Directions US events, we have decided to set the date for the NAV TechDays 2011 to Thursday 29 & Friday 30 September 2011.

NAV TechDays is the place where some of the best developers and leading business owners cross paths, exchange ideas, find partners and conceive projects. It is where community ties are strengthened and where boundaries will be broken. It is where you want to be to make things happen. If you are passionate about Microsoft Dynamics NAV, then you need to be at NAV TechDays!

I'm not aware of any NAV specific conferences in India. I presume the EMEA conferences are also covering the Indian regio.

Its very hard to organize or implement any kind of Navision event in India. There are a number of issues, but the core ones are how Navision partners work there.

Firstly there is a very low percentage of Navision Developers/Consultants that are dedicated to Navision. Most companies want multi-skilled personnel, so that if they get a new contract they can quickly switch people around. Also on company resumes, if they have 15 developers each of which are certified in T-SQL, AX, NAV, GP, SAP, Sharepoint, C# etc. They will list them individually as 15 Navision developers, 15 SAP consultants etc. Thus giving them a wider market to get development contracts for. Of course on paper it looks good, but the down side is it means that the company can not really afford to have extensive training for every consultant on every product. And if they sent the 15 people to a 2 day Navision conference, they would then need to send them to AX, SAP SQL etc. Which just can't be expected.

Next there is the urgency of billing. Companies can not afford to lose 2 days of billable work, so its difficult for the Developers/Consultants to get time off, and because of the long hours they work, none of them want to go to conferences on Weekends or in the evening when they should send time with their families.

Then there is the distance. If a large conference is organized in The US or Europe, people will travel all over to be there. In India this is less common. You wont get 500 consultants having their company pay for an airfare AND three nights in a hotel AND pay salary AND lose 3 days of billable time. So you would have to repeat the conference in each major center, Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Kolkata.

Then simply the cost. Technical people need to be flown from all over the world to host the event. A facility is needed, those people need to be put up in Hotels and they need air fares paid and their salaries. THis would relate to entrance fees of around 10,000-20,000 INR per attendee. Partners are just not willing / able to pay these sorts of entrance fees for their people when it is just covering one skill set. ANd its hard to find enough developers and consultants that can afford this them selves.

Events such as TechEd can be successful in India, because it covers many skill sets. But until there is a lot more product specialization, and Navision is considered as a "career path" and not just one of the skills, its very difficult.

No, of course not
It's just that in October there usually are plenty of MS events (Technical Airlift, PLC, Convergence, etc.) , plus there are some "private appointments" :D

Sorry for the delay in replying.

Actually I see Indonesia as a strong growth market for Navision. if there was a Navision event organized there I would be very interested to attend.
