Please ensure that you meet the following pre-requisites before
beginning the installation.
Requirements
The server must be able to run Microsoft SQL Server™ 2000,
Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services 2000 and Business Analytics.
It is possible to have the same Microsoft SQL Server host both the
Microsoft Business Solutions–Navision and the Data Mart. This
however requires that the server is powerful enough to handle both
databases. Best performance is obtained by keeping each database on
a separate server.
General requirements:
- Windows® 2000 with SP3 or higher, Windows 2003 Server.
- At least 512 MB memory (depending on the database size).
- Enough disk space to hold the Navision database
twice.
- Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher.
- Internet Information Server (only required for web server for
Business Analytics).
- Microsoft SQL Server 2000 with SP2 or higher.
- Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services 2000 with SP2 or higher.
- If Business Analytics is installed on Navision running on a
native database, it is required that a compatible C/ODBC-driver is
installed, preferably the same version as the Navision
software.
- During the configuration process, any application that uses
the data sources should be closed. This includes, but is not
limited to, Microsoft SQL Server Enterprise Manager, Analysis
Manager and Business Analytics Enterprise Manager. Also, close any
software that uses the C/ODBC driver. In general all other
applications should be closed during the whole setup process.
- Note that it might be necessary to reboot the server during
the installation.
Recommendations
Following the recommendations below will help ensuring a
successfull installation.
- If the solution is installed on a different server than the
server hosting the Navision software you will need to make sure
that the network connection between the servers has a proper
bandwidth to be able to transfer the data in a reasonable
timeframe.
