Microsoft Dynamics CRM Editable Grid and Custom Lookup add-on have been released
We’ve developed an add-on of two custom controls that facilitate managing related records. The Editable Grid control gives a possibility to display, add, delete and edit the related records on one CRM form. Grid columns are customizable and can contain all common CRM types, including lookup and owner. Custom lookup provides an effective and quick search procedure. The search is performed dynamically on base of input string. The matching results are displayed in the same control saving the user from opening the lookup view.
Custom lookup Custom lookup provides a powerful search routine within a lookup field. Custom Lookup allows user to perform a context search of records within a lookup field on a CRM form. User can type in any part of the related entity name in the lookup field. Custom lookup then performs a search based on input string and generates a Google-like dynamic drop-down list of matching records. The user can then select a record from the drop-down list that will fill in the lookup field. To see more records the user can open a common CRM lookup form. Custom Lookup could be easily added to both CRM forms and custom ASPX pages. This functionality could be applied to any CRM entity with a customizable form. Features: • Accelerates the search for records: multiple records can be retrieved without displaying the lookup dialog; • Allows to choose any field for search: by default the main attribute is used for search but it can be changed to any other entity attribute. • A prefiltering option can be added to Custom Lookup (e.g.: displaying contacts, related to current organization); • Supports Outlook Offline Client: the search can also be performed offline. Editable Grid Editable Grid provides an easy way to display and edit the related records on a CRM form. It simplifies managing records by providing one page where all records could be found, added, edited and deleted. Grid columns contain the fields of the related records thus all information for the main entity can be aggregated on one form. The fields of the related records can be edited right in the grid itself. Editable Grid eliminates the need to open each record form in case several records need to be edited. Changes made in related records are saved automatically when the focus is moved to another field. A new record is created as soon as all required fields are filled. Editable Grid pre-fills fields with default values, set by attribute properties or relationship mapping. Pre-fill occurs on the new record creation and on changing a lookup field if the relationship mapping rules are set. Editable Grid supports almost all CRM field types: lookup, owner, picklist, bit, nvarchar, ntext, datetime, int, decimal, float and money. It performs validation on user input including length and format of the input string as well as duplicate detection. Columns of the Editable Grid can be customized through an Editable Grid View of the related entity. Custom lookup is integrated into Editable Grid in its lookup columns and also as the quick search assistant for adding new records into the Grid. Custom lookup can also be integrated into CRM Grid.
