Minister Dr. Austin Gatt has announced the publication of the European Commission’s Benchmarking Report on eGovernment at a press conference held by the Ministry for Infrastructure, Transport and Communication on the 19th of November. Such a report, which is considered as a fundamental base in the eGovernment measurement landscape both at a European as well as at a Member State level, demonstrates Malta's exceptional progress in the delivery of eGovernment services. In fact, Malta has achieved first place through maximum score in measurement indicators demonstrating Online Sophistication, Fully Online Availability, One Stop Shop, User Focused Portal Design, Pro-Active Public Service Delivery and Automated Service Delivery, whilst ranking second in User Satisfaction Monitoring and third in Usability. Malta is also amongst the top four performing countries with respect to eProcurement Availability, signifying a strong proactive policy that aligns availability and visibility for contracting authorities. The report highlights the highly mature and user-friendly services and remarks highly on the user-satisfaction monitoring system in Malta. All these achievements confirm Malta’s significant leap forward in its performance since it joined the benchmark in 2004, making it today the leader of the benchmark and the best performing country in the EU together with Portugal. At the backbone of these successes lies the implementation of a robust and scalable eGovernment solution that meets citizens’ expectations for continuous connectivity with public service institutions. As the providers of the Electronic Identity, myGov.mt and the Consolidated eServices Portal for the Government of Malta, Exigy has been instrumental in the successful design and implementation of the Maltese eGovernment framework that has paved the way towards Malta’s proven and internationally recognised progress within the eGovernment sphere.
